Introduction
This is part of a unit about Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz who lived in the 1600's in Mexico, then called New Spain. She was a self-taught intellectual, scholar, poet, essayist and nun. She was fiercely independent and is credited with having had the largest library in Latin America at that time. Today her image appears on the 200 peso bill in Mexico.
This unit is for grades 5-9 at the novice level. More handouts from this unit will become available in the future.
